Teabag Boats

I love herbal teas, i dont drink normal tea or coffee but i love chamomile tea and green tea. Herbal teas normally come in a stringed bag and for some reason i always think it would be cute if the string had something attached to it! No idea why, but i thought i give it a go!

So i made some little origami boats from paper

and stapled them to the string.

Then gave them a dunk! Theyre only paper so they went soggy pretty quickly but they were pretty good for a prototype!

Arent they cute!
I'll have to figure out how to make them last a bit longer when wet, possibly use thin plastic instead of paper, but a good first go

Another Teacup Birdfeeder

I decided to make lovely BM's mum a teacup birdfeeder for her Christmas present. I found this beautiful yellow and gold set at a local vintage fair.

So i glued everything together, added bails to the bottom saucer, threaded the chain through the bails and joined the chain at the top with an 8mm split ring.

I used o-rings to link the chain to the bails last time and some of them didnt hold so i just removed them this time and threaded the chain through the bails instead - much sturdier

(Sorry for the dark pictures, i had to take them inside as i dont actually have any trees in my back garden to hang them from!)

Teacup Birdfeeder

I love the tea cup bird feeders that are about at the moment so i thought id have a go at making my own. I got my mum to search her cupboards and the local charity shops for some nice tea cups (great work Muma!) and i picked a few i liked.
(Sorry i forgot to take a picture of just the tea cups before glueing them, so these have the bails already attached)

First off I glued the cups to the saucers with strong adhesive and then glued the bails (i bought mine from ebay) to the cups. These are going to go outside so make sure your glue is permanent and suitable for outdoor use

(These are the bails i used)

Once everything was dry i fixed a chain to each of the bails and then joined them together at the top with a hook
I bought the chain from hobby craft and the hook from B&Q
Theyre ready to use like that, just fill them with bird seed, but i wanted to add bird cake to the teacup part.
I used this receipe from the RSPB and packed it in the tea cup

Heres one hanging in my mums backgarden, hopefully the bird (and not the squirrels!) will like it as much as i do :)
