Waitressing apron

I help out on my family's lavender farm occasionally as waitress so i decided to make myself a little apron to wear whilst waitressing! Its just a simple one with two deep pockets at the front, very easy so if i make another one i might do a tutorial on it so watch this space!

 

Dressing Gown Loop

Who makes a dressing gown without a loop to hang it up with! (well you can see from the picture who, but thats less dramatic!). Lovely BM got a new dressing gown for Christmas and its been driving me mad every since that it doesnt have a loop to hang it up!

So i finally fixed it last week and made my own loop with some cute spotty ribbon. So easy and now im not annoyed - win win!
 

Fabric wine bags

 

 

 

 

Lovely BM and i have received lots of 'congratulations on your engagement' bottles of bubbly recently and i always try to keep and recycle the gift bags they come in. So i thought why couldnt you also make wine bottle gifts bags from fabric to make them truly recyclable! I think the hessian ones are fab but the stripey ones are my fave, its a great way to use up your stash too

Lavendar Drawer Sachets

 

I used up some fabric scraps to make some lavender drawer sachets filled with lavender from my cousins lavender farm. They should keep everyone's intimates drawers smelling delicious!

Stuffed felt hearts in box frames

 

Valentines is upon us so i thought these would be good to share. Its a very simple felt heart, top stitched by hand in black embroidery thread, mounted in a box frame. I love love love them! The skinny heart is my fav xx

Strip fabric baby quilts

Some more baby blankets made from strips of different fabric and backed with super soft minky. Not sure if im going to sell them in my etsy shop or not, theyre not my usual cute fabrics so not sure they go with the rest of the stock... to be decided!

Christmas jumper trio

 

My sister was back from Australia for Christmas so i made a trio of jumpers for her, lovely BM and i too wear! Arent they cute!! I had to be the bum unfortunately, my sister was the middle (she had to stick near us as her jumper was pretty boring on its own!!) and lovely BM was the head as hes the tallest by far. Everyone cracked up when they saw us :)

Jumper sleeve slippers

Another Christmas present make! These used to be jumper arms and now theyre slippers for my sister!! Arent they cosy looking :)

 

 

Fold over leather clutch bag

 

Check out the gorgeous fold over clutch I made for my sister for Christmas! I used up some beautiful camel coloured nappa leather and some cute 50S style fabric for the lining.

 

 

 

I top stitched the zip in gold for a little extra sparkle!

I used this pattern by say yes to Hoboken which was great, my dimensions are slightly different but the proportions are the same

Hope my sister likes it (and isn't a too avid reader of this blog!)

Christmas Tree Bunting

I made cute Christmas tree bunting as gifts for my family this year.

 

 

Theyre just 2 triangles of tweed or green fleece, sewn together by hand, with a folded in half felt strip as the trunk, and stuff with toy stuffing

 

The I threaded gold cord through the top of them, between the top stitches and they were done :)

Baby Fox - Toy Clothes

Check out my friend's daughter's most beloved toy Baby Fox in her new threads! Baby Fox has spent her entire life in the nude, something i thought i could rectify. So i made her a little vest top (from an old tshirt), a pair of knickers (from a sock) and a little cape, which she could also wear as a skirt. Baby Fox (and her owner of course) seem pretty pleased, as am i!

Cat Neck Pillow

When i saw this adorable cat neck pillow by on etsy I knew i just had to make a similar (but significantly poorer quality!) one for my sister. We're both a bit obsessed with our cats so its perfect for her. Isnt he cute! Hes a bit thin (unlike my real cat!) so id make him chubbier if i had to make him again!

Bird Crewel Embroidery

I bought this crewel embroidery pattern months and month (probably years TBH) ago from June Craft. I fell in love with this cute little guy the minute i saw him and ive been trying to find time to make him ever since. And im so pleased i finally did - isnt he just the cutest! It was really easy too. I havent embroidered anything since i was a teenager but the pattern is really simple and comes with instructions for all the stitches you'll need.

Once i was done making him i trimmed the backing fabric and mounted him in the frame i made him in. He's now up on the picture wall in the kitchen

FYI As im not an embroider im not sure what makes Crewel embroidery different but it seemed very similar to the embroidery ive done before so don't let it put you off

Wardrobe Storage Boxes - Triangular!

So our lovely fitted wardrobes have some triangular shaped shelves in them and i was struggling to use them for much.


In the end i decided i needed storage boxes for the shelves. I went through a load of ideas, buying some (nothing was the right shape), making them out of card or thin plastic sheet (sheets big enough were expensive) until i decided the only way was to make them out of fabric and use pelmet hessian to strengthen the sides


I measured the shelf and cut out three pieces for the sides and a triangular piece for the base. Accuracy is key here, theres little room for error so make sure you measure twice, cut once, like my grandad taugt me!


I sewed the three side pieces together to make a tube


But i didnt sew all the way down to the bottom, i left a cm gap to make it easier to add in the base piece.


Then, with everything right side together, i lined up the base piece and sewed along each side. Again dont sew all the way to the end, stop when you get to the seam allowance for the next side of the base piece


That means all you corners line up nicely


I turned it all right side out and checked the corners. Sometimes the gap i left at the bottom on the side piece was too big and there would be a gap or loose stitching. If there was i just turned it wrong side again, stitched over the side seams, all the way down to the base piece to secure them.

Then i made a whole new piece in the same way for the lining.


Once i had both the outer piece and the lining i cut the pelmet hessian to the correct length for each side and tucked them into place. And added the lining piece (wrong side against the hessian) inside the hessian

I didnt think my sewing machine would stand up to sewing through 2 layers of fabric and the hessian so i decided to use an iron on tape to seal the edges

I folded the lining of the box over the hessian and tucked it in between the hessian and the outer fabric. I then folder the outer fabric over that. So the raw edge of the outer fabric formed a lip over the top onto the lining.

 
Then i just ironed the tape over the raw edge sealing it.






Heres they are in use, i love how they look and they really have made that area more usable. I used fabric i already had and probably spent £40 on hessian and iron on tape but that still works out much cheaper than making plastic ones or buying custom fit ones!
