These are the other items on the picture wall which i made before i started blogging.
Fabric circles appliqued to some white cotton and tiny hearts punched from a map of our local area
Cute wrapping paper i found in Sydney Australia and a gorgeous silk painting of a boat, a card from many birthdays ago
A beautiful piece of calligraphy given to me by my Aunt, again many years ago and a felt heart i made for lovely BM when we first moved in together

Machine Embroidered Doodle Art
Ive always been a doodler of epic proportions, im not very good at
keeping still and doodling lets me fidget without loosing my focus for
some reason! So i knew a doodle had to be included on the picture wall
:)
Originally it was just a black and white doodle as thats whats my doodles normally look like but it stood out for the wrong reasons - being too plain. So i knew it needed an injection of colour
So, inspired by the woodland for my origami foxes, i decided to do some free hand machine embroidery on the paper. The embroidery is very rustic and irregular as i wanted to keep the doodle theme going but i do love how its turned out, the colour has really elevated it to another level :)

Geometric Stamped Animals
I know i already have some stamped animals for the picture wall but when i saw this post by How About Orange i just fell in love with the super cute geometric animals and had to include them. That squirrel just slays me everytime and as for that lioness, well shes just too cute for words! Ive tried to tie in the colours to the whole wall again but keep it from being to similar to the finger print animals but this is definitely one of my favourites on the wall :)

Origami Foxes and Machine Embroidery Woodland
When i saw this post by How About Orange i knew i needed some origami foxes in my life! The post comes with a free printable background but i knew i wanted something different. So i decided to free hand machine embroider the background woodland scene. I really like how its turned out but i might change the frame its in, its squishing everything too much, but thats a job for the future!

Finger Print Animals
I have already done a version of this bit of art (see this post) but i wanted to make a new one so it could be included in the picture wall. I tried to tie the colours in with what else is on the wall without being too matchy matchy. And that little piggys curly tail just makes me smile every time!

Folder Paper Art
When i saw this wall backdrop from Martha Stewart i loved it but didnt really have a reason to make it. So when i started work on the kitchen picture wall i realised i could make a mini version. Its mounted in a box frame which also helps give the wall a bit of depth. I love the colours i chose and love the fact that you could do it in any colour combination you want.

Sukie Iron On Art
I bought this book ages ago and while i have used some of the iron ons i must admit it did get forgotten for a while, so i decided to frame some of my favourites for the picture wall
I ironed the images i liked onto white fabric and carefully peeled back the backing paper
I repeated it with the other images and then framed the fabric
Isnt the cat on the scooter just amazing!
The picture didnt quite pop how i wanted it to so i painted the mount gold to give it a bit more depth. I might repaint the frame too, maybe a pale grey, but im happy with it for now, and i love that ive been able to use my iron on book again!

Dopamine Embroidery
Making my cute little bird embroidery gave me a bit of an embroidery bug so i wanted to make something else. Id seen a few molecule embroideries (like this one by itsastitch) in the blogosphere and they definitely resonated with the scientist in me! But i wanted to create something a bit more personal to me. So, as two of my close family have battled Parkinson's Disease, i knew that Dopamine was the molecule for me! Although PD suffers lack their own Dopamine, synthetic Dopamine can give them their lives back so it really is a wonder molecule in my eyes. And the key to synthesising any molecule is knowing its chemical structure. Dopamine replacement therapy doesnt work forever, PD is degenerative and there is no cure, but this is my little thankyou for the extra time that knowing this structure has given me with the people i love

Bird Crewel Embroidery
I bought this crewel embroidery pattern months and month (probably years TBH) ago from June Craft. I fell in love with this cute little guy the minute i saw him and ive been trying to find time to make him ever since. And im so pleased i finally did - isnt he just the cutest! It was really easy too. I havent embroidered anything since i was a teenager but the pattern is really simple and comes with instructions for all the stitches you'll need.
Once i was done making him i trimmed the backing fabric and mounted him in the frame i made him in. He's now up on the picture wall in the kitchen
FYI As im not an embroider im not sure what makes Crewel embroidery different but it seemed very similar to the embroidery ive done before so don't let it put you off

Another Picture Wall :)
The success of the living room and hallway picture walls gave me the confidence to create another one on a (very) blank wall in our kitchen. I also wanted to showcase some things i had made and then create some new things for our new home as well. Im going to go through each picture over the next few weeks but i wanted to started with a few pictures of how it all looks overall first

Cote de Beouf
Lovely BM and I literally ate a steak as big as my head the other week! It was a cote de beouf (beef rib) and it was a-mazing. We carved it ourselves on the board in the middle of the restaurant where it certainly created a bit if a buzz! We heard afterwards that lots of other people then ordered it but they'd sold the last one to us :)

Chicken Enchilada Soup
Lovely BM is partial to some Mexican food so i made him this Chicken Enchilada Soup by Skinny Tastes the other week, he loved it so i highly recommend it. I had some too but ate it more like a dip with corn tortillas - just as delicious :)
