Crochet present birthday cards

Ive been making these for years but this is the first time ive crocheted them, normally theyre knitted. Crochet us so much quicker so i think i love these even more than the originals! Ive run out of people to give them too as theyve all already had one for a previous birthday!

Now for sale in my etsy shop :)

Greeting Card Organiser

I really wish i had taken a photo of the disaster area that was the 'greeting card drawer' so you could see what an improvement this new set up is! Basically everytime i needed a card i had to root around dozens of cards, gift bags, wrapping paper sheets to find a suitable one. It was so irritating that id just go out and buy a new card or bag anyway - so wasteful! This had to change so i utilised some empty storage and made an organised storage box for my greeting cards

I just made some simple dividers from black card and wrote the different card types in white on the little tab. I chose black as it stood out more against all the cards.

I filed all the cards, and tucked the majority of the gift bags at the back, out of the way, and then breathed a sigh of relief that the disaster drawer was a thing of the past!

Felt Garlands

I made some felt garland decorations for Lovely BM's birthday party. Theyre based on these over at Purl Bee but i wanted them much more open and loose than theirs.

I made one with squares

And one with circles (ignore the snake tanks in the background please and focus on the cute little garland!!)
I love the circle one especially, i'm definitely making some more. In fact i dont think im even going to take these down even now the parties long finished, i like them too much!

Wish birthday cards

Lovely BM and I are moving house soon (more on that to follow i imagine!) so were having a mega clearout. During which i found some candles, i remembered seeing a card on pinterest that i loved so i thought id make my own versions
I love how they turned out, especially the make a wish one, but the washi tape wasnt strong enough to hold the candles in place for long, i'll need to glue them to the card before i give them to anyone!

Birthday Fruit Tart

It was my mums birthday recently and as she doesnt like cakes but is partial to fuit, custard and pastry i made her this fruit tart instead of a traditonal birthday cake. Its a creme patisserie filling which is delicious and is toppped with peaches, kiwi and strawberries. I used this recipe but must admit i used shop bought pastry!

Embroidered Handwriting Card v2.0

I had another go at the happy birthday embroidered card this week. I tried to glue a border on it first but had a major glue fail (spray adhesive everywhere!) and nearly ruined the whole thing. I managed to get the glue off the embroidery but the card above and below was all messy. I couldnt bear to redo the embroidery so i cut around it and glued in on a Moroccan tile background i already had. Im quite taken with it, but im not sure its up gift standard so it might just stay with me for now.

Perler Birthday card

Yet another birthday card! I dont think i even know enough people to give out all the cards ive made recently! I already make this card but with knitted presents but i think they work well with the perler beads as well. I like perler beads when theyre not melted, i think i might try and find some other uses for them as well, any ideas welcome!. Now who to send this one to....

Embroidered card

On a bit of card making session at the moment! I love embroidery but im not very good at it so i figured even i couldnt mess up something where i selected and made the holes myself first! I drew the words very lightly in pencil and then used a sharp needle (must be sharp, i runied the first version by using a blunt needle and bending the card!) to poke holes about 1cm apart, or closer on a curve. I then back stitched from one hole to the next in this beautiful coral thread i had. I think it needs a bit more embellishment before i can give it to someone, maybe a border.. i'll have a think and get back to you!

FYI A normal stitch goes up through hole 1, back down hole 2, up through 3, down through 4. Backstitching goes up through 2, back down 1, up though 4, back down through 3 etc

Knitted Birthday Cards

Another new make of the year :) I often make these knitted birthday present cards for my friends so i thought i'd make a nice new tonal set of five to sell on etsy. Theyre just little knitted squares, i use whatever wool is left over in my stash, which i glue ribbon too and then stick onto bought card blanks. I get these white card blanks from hobby craft. I used to attach a dymo embossed happy birthday to the cards but my dymo has broken (bad times) so i found a dymo font online and printed it onto glossy photo paper, cut it out and stuck the wording to the card. Done! Really easy but very cute i think.

I also loved how all the little squares looked stacked up next to each other, a little knitted rainbow!

The card set are available to buy in my shop on etsy, other combinations to follow hopefully, or message me if you intersted in anything specific.
