Craft Room Finished!

So the craft room is now finished!!! Ive still got a few other things around the house i want to sort so organising fortnight(ish) is still ongoing but the main thing i wanted to complete is finished! This post shows how it looked before


This is the end with my work bench. Here ive got the kilner jars with my threads on the top shelf with my washi tape and zips next to them. Below is the ribbon rail and then below that are my hoop bags and various other bits and bobs. The bulk of fabric is a big really useful box under the table and the seat is a storage bench which hold all my bulkier wool.


From this angle you can see my wool wall storage and then all the various bigger things in boxes in the wardrobe. Plenty of empty space to expand into as well!


The area around my desk is my favourite bit, i love all the colour coordination just how easy it is to find everything. Im so happy with how its turned out and i love love love making stuff in there :)

Organising Fortnight (ish)

So, lovely BM and i moved house in March and we were unpacked and organised in record time but then it just tailed off. All the big things, the important things and even the medium and small things got done but all those tiny touches that need doing to make you house look nicer got put off and put off. So im dedicating the next fortnight (ish) to me sorting it all out! The ish is because everything always takes longer than i think it does....
The main area i want to sort out is my craft room.




Everything is pretty organised but its just not pretty or inviting at the moment. Especially since lovely BM has moved in and made it his temporary study until his fitted study is built. So i want to make it more welcoming and make the storage more efficient and defintely more pretty.
I also plan to sort out the bathroom storage and maybe some of the kitchen cupboards but we'll see how i get on with the craft room first!

Flying birds quilt

I have fallen in love with this quilt! Hopefully i'll get to make it one day but i might need to save up for the volume of fabric a large bedspread sized one would require! Purlbee really does have the most amazing pattern and tutorials. I love the flying bird/triangle pattern and how the direction of the birds and the fabrics are abit mismatched in places. I love the colour scheme too - definitely one to add to the wish list!

Knitted Dissceted Rat

I couldnt resist buying this pattern when i saw it on etsy. Its another combination of the things i love, science/biology and crafting. I found it on etsy in The Crafty Hedgehog's shop and i cant wait to make it!

Bady beardied dragons

In addition to both having full time jobs and my quite time consuming love of crafting lovely BM and I also keep snakes. We currently have 11 in the house, i think its officially a zoo! Now,  snakes arent everyone's thing so i wont post any pictures on here but recently we looked after some bearded dragon eggs for a friend and they hatched last week, and they are sooo cute that i have to post some pictures. Everyone loves clumsy baby animals so, even if you dont like reptiles, i think you'll find these pretty adorable!

The Make Lounge

My brother kindly bought me a voucher for the Make Lounge in north London for Christmas. I've been on courses there before and they're excellent, really detailed, and they do crafts in a contemporary way. Now I just need to decide which course to do...

Power of Making - V&A

Although I've always loved handmade crafts I've never actually made it to the V&A museum - horrifying I know! But when i saw they had an exhibition called The Power of Making i knew that was the one for me, and it didnt let me down. It was only a small exhibition, in one room, but i spend nearly 2 hours in there looking at all the amazing items. From incredibly technical pieces of mechanical engineering to bespoke shoes and incredibly detailed anatomy models of animal, i was amazed that everything could be grouped together in one exhibit, but it could. Everything there was handmade by incredibly creative and talented craftsmen and women. It was actually really humbling as the level of skill was just inmmense, far beyond anything i could even dream of.
Some of my favourite items were the alphabet pencils, where each letter of the alphabet was painstakingly carved into its own pencil lead (picture on the exhibit homepage), the dissected frog made from lego, disgusting and fascinating all at once and the Widow dress made with over 10,000 dressmaker pins, which at a distance i thought was fluffy or maybe furry and it was only when i got close up that I realised every bit of what i though was fluffy/furry thread was in fact a pin!
A really lovely 2 hours of my life, in fact so nice that i didnt leave enough time to go round any other bits of the museum - definitely an excellent excuse to go back again this year!
